Watford LFC VS Everton LFC

home game

The match was played in sunny yet brisk conditions. The first 30 minutes saw a highly competitive game between two equally matched teams, both of which failed to produce any clear cut chances from threatening positions.

Watford appeared to have the edge initially and maintained good pressure on the Everton defence but two goals in quick succession shortly after the first half hour demonstrated an emerging dominance from the visitors.

Everton managed to settle into a confident passing pattern allowing pressure to mount on the Watford defence, the goals coming from a corner and a well timed run through on goal. The second half started badly for Watford with two goals conceded within five minutes of the break.

Everton demonstrated supremacy for much of the second half through ball possession, passing accuracy and threats on goal, yet Watford were able to create chances on the break, most notably from Sarah Wiltshire.

Despite the score line, Watford put on a brave fight.  Bonnie Horwood displayed a cool head under pressure in the midfield, holding up play well and feeding off accurate passes.  Georgia Kearney-Perry made a number of important tackles in a busy afternoon for the Watford defence and Lauren Davey made key saves preventing a larger goal margin.
