FA Cup Fourth Round

Watford LFC 1 v 3 Bristol Academy WFC

Scorers:

Watford - Burrows 70

Bristol - Bartlett 67 & 72, Lorton 81

Watford Ladies finally got their twice postponed FA Cup Fourth Round match underway at Northwood on Sunday only to exit at the first time of asking.

Starting their first match since December and minus their departed striker Helen Lander, Watford started the match brightly, taking early control and creating a number of unconverted chances. As the half wore on, Bristol got into their stride, testing Marie Hourihan in the Watford goal without success.

The second half continued in similar fashion until the 67th minute when Kerry Bartlett capitalised on a mix up between Charlie Nicholson and Marie Hourihan to slot home the loose ball and put the visitors one up.

The lead was short lived as Lisa Burrows launched a sensational 30-yard drive that sailed into the top corner to even the scores on 70 minutes.

However two minutes later Bartlett sprung the offside trap to put Bristol ahead again before Justine Lorton fired past Hourihan to add a third for Bristol and take them into a Fifth Round tie against Birmingham City.

Watford return to League action next Sunday with a re-arranged match away at Liverpool.
