Watford LFC VS Arsenal LFC
Watford LFC 0 - 1 Arsenal LFC
Watford took on current League leaders and Champions Arsenal Ladies at Northwood on Thursday 26th March. Playing in front of the biggest crowd of the season, Watford grafted to deny Arsenal any space in the first half, limiting them to a few chances until, on the half hour, a high Katie Chapman ball, dropping out of the floodlights, caught out Marie Hourihan in the Watford goal. Failing to hold on to it, the ball dropped towards the goal, until it was cleared off the line into the path of Rachel Yankey, who duly tucked it away at the post.
In the second half Watford, sensing they could get something from the game, took the initiative and pressurised the Arsenal defence, a couple of half-chances to equalise dropping to Sarah Wiltshire and Jo Rutherford without a finish. Arsenal too created some goal scoring opportunities, ex-Hornet Helen Lander coming closest with a shot over the bar.
Despite their second half endeavours, Watford couldn't find the net, but can hold their heads up with an excellent team performance.
