The Watford Ladies First Team continued their impressive start to the season with a convincing 5-2 win over Harpenden Town Women in the Hertfordshire County Cup. Watford went three goals up in the first fifteen minutes with two for Sophia Amanor and one for Rebecca Lovelace. Despite Watford’s dominance, Harpenden pulled one back before Player of the Match Natalie Cloy found the back of the net to make it 4-1 at half time. Harpenden fought back in the second half making life difficult for the visitors, but Watford weathered the storm with Naomi Jackson adding a fifth. A late Harpenden penalty was not enough to stop Watford's progress to the next round.
There was also County Cup success in the sunshine for the U14 Warriors who were away to Goffs Oak in their first competitive match of the season. Despite being a new team, they worked the ball well showing strength in possession. After eight minutes Erin Arkin played in Emma Skipsey who burst past the Goffs defence and slotted into the bottom corner. Enya Brewster followed up a few moments later with a shot across the keeper and Dulcie Gabally made it 3-0 before half time. Goffs were fired up at the start of the second half but two goals from Watford’s Tierney O’Gorman rounded off a well-deserved 5-0 victory.
Meanwhile in the JPL Cup, Watford’s U16 Warriors turned on the style with an emphatic 10-2 win against Ruislip Rangers. Mia Gregory bagged 6 goals with Matilda Walker, Chloe Timms, Tiana Mckenzie-David and Molly Wain also finding the back of the net.
